KIM GRALL

Although Kim Grall received her BFA from the University of Utah in studio painting, mixed media is more applicable to the work she does, whether it be applied to an individual piece or her work as a whole. Kim does mixed media on paper, makes paper, sculpts, and creates with Papier Mache and paints in water-based mediums.

The Earth and the environment play a major role in her subject matter, but also in the materials she uses for her work. Combining recycled paper and Styrofoam with other recycled materials and found objects are the basis for her masks, full-sized sculptures and puppets. Endangered or extinct animals are often the subject matter for these pieces and recently global warming concerns have taken over her mixed media on paper.
