JACK SCHERTZER
Jack Schertzer was born and raised in Queens, New York, where he began drawing on his own while a young boy. He began creating serious art when, as a teenager, he sold oil paintings on consignment. Jack’s formal training started as an art major in high school. He also studied for a time in a scholarship program at the Museum of Modern Art.
After high school he worked in an advertising agency with the intention of becoming an ad artist. Following his service in the Army during the Korean War, he continued his education at HofstraCollege, with the intention of returning to the art world.
After graduation, he decided to get a “real job” and pursued a career in the financial world. Throughout this time, he continued to paint and occasionally sell his work. He also began sculpting and creating stained glass pieces. He has exhibited and sold his work through Art on the Mountain, among other venues
